Harton Benefice

Welcome to our ten village churches.

We look forward to meeting you.

Gate Helmsley - St Mary

There has been a church building here since the 14th century, though only a little of that can be seen now. Rather more from the 15th century remains and most of the east half of the church is from the 1885/6 renovation.

Some fine stained glass windows, three bells and the organ all date from 1885 - 1913.

There are many interesting features in this lovely Grade II* listed church that sits in the centre of the village and you will find a guide to them when you visit.

Postcode: YO41 1NE

Churchwardens:

Delyth Harran 01759 372215 and Sue Hanson 01759 372663

The church is normally open during the day; tea, coffee and cold drinks are provided

and visitors are always welcome.

Please use the free car park opposite the Village Hall (on the A166, 100 yards towards Stamford Bridge from the church) - the Back Lane is narrow and used by wide agricultural vehicles.

A list of services in this and other churches in our Harton Benefice is displayed on the noticeboard in the porch and information about the building can be found inside the church.  For information about the churchyard and memorials, please contact one of the churchwardens.

Donations to help maintain the work and structure of the church can be made here:
