'Conversation at 10' - join us online
“What do you think about . . . .?”
Hello everyone and welcome to our Wednesday 'Conversation at 10'
This morning: “What do you think about . . . . The Bible?” (Part 9)
The foundations of our faith are built on the words of The Bible - the history contained in the Old Testament, the poetry of the Psalms, the story of Jesus' life in the New Testament, the accounts of the early church in Acts, the letters of Paul and others and finally, John's vision in the Book of Revelation. Some parts of The Bible are probably very familiar to us, others less so. Some make easy reading, offering comfort, support and hope; other parts are more difficult and challenging.
Last week we gained a fascinating insight into the book of Psalms - how it was compiled and how it is structured. A real incentive for us to read and enjoy the Psalms again.
Before we move on to the New Testament we are introduced to The Prophets. The names of some are familiar - Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekial - but there are quite a few more. They gave warning to the Israelites of the consequences of turning from God's covenant, but they also gave messages of hope for a return to a new Jerusalem for those who remain faithful to God. There is just one short clip today, about the Prophets, so you might like to take the opportunity to look back at some of our earlier sessions - they are all still here for you to browse at your leisure. In particular these clips from 'How to read the Bible' are worth re-visiting:
